Description

From New York Times bestselling author Jana DeLeon, the first in a new thriller series.

Everyone wondered about Shaye Archer’s past. Including Shaye.

Share Archer’s life effectively began the night police found her in an alley, beaten and abused and with no memory of the previous fifteen years, not even her name. Nine years later, she’s a licensed private investigator, with a single goal—to get answers for her clients when there aren’t supposed to be any.

And maybe someday, answers for herself.

Emma Frederick thought her nightmare was over when she killed her abusive husband, but someone is stalking her and tormenting her with mementos from her past. With no evidence to support her claims, the police dismiss her claims as post-traumatic stress, but Shaye is convinced that someone is deliberately terrorizing Emma…playing a cat and mouse game with only one goal in mind.

To kill Emma.

Scary story. Read the book in 2 days. A lot of psychology throughout to analyze. Sad to think some people’s lives had this much hurt in them.

What would you do if you were being stalked by your dead husband and no one believed you? Call Shaye Archer a young and bright private investigator who is probably the only person who could understand the evil you truly face. Malevolent is a great thriller that I just couldn’t put down. From the first chapter till the very end it had me wondering who the killer truly was. Loved this story and can’t wait to read more about Shaye Archer

The writing flowed so well. I couldn’t put this book down, it got more and more exciting and I was on the edge of my seat. I loved the characters and am looking forward to finding out more about Shaye’s past.

Malevolent is the best thriller I’ve ever read, and that is saying something given how much I read. The characters of Shaye, Emma, and Jackson are complex and interesting. The plot is carefully sculpted with just enough terror, just enough hope, just enough red herrings, just enough eeriness. My previous favorite, Loves Music, Loves to Dane by Mary Higgins Clark is awesome, but this book is better. I highly recommend Malevolent.
  • A great mystery

I have always loved to escape with books...especially mysteries. Ms. DeLeon has carved a permanent space in my reading repertoire following my introduction to Shaye Archer the heroine in her page turning novel, Malevolent. With NOLA being of my favorite settings, I can't wait to return in another one of her mysteries!

I liked this book right away, but it got better and better as I read. The ending was a shock, but made sense of the baffling clues along the way. Now I can’t wait to read the next two books!
